ŠKODA Motorsport lined up at the 2017` Rally Monte Carlo with the FABIA R5s which remembered the brand’s legendary triumph at the same race 40 years ago. The works team’s FABIA featured the same blue and red stripes as sported by the winning car from 1977.
The rally car was driven by the Norwegians Andreas Mikkelsen and Anders Jaeger among others. The two were even able to tie in with the 1977 victory. (https://youtu.be/dQaCVGtDNZw)
IXO has taken this as an opportunity and produced a miniature of the successful car in 1/24 scale. The manufacturer has managed to pass on its extensive experience in 1/43 rally models to the 1/24 scale. So it is not surprising that IXO also releases some models in the already almost forgotten scale. I am very attached to the trend and look forward to many more new releases in 1/24.
