They See Me Rolling

Philip van den Hout

3d printed wheels have been around for quite a while now, and have leveled up the customs (and wheel swap) game significantly. Not only can you now make a custom that much more realistic by using accurate wheels, but just the fact that you don't have to buy premiums you don't care for just for the wheels, leading to a pile of wheel-less junkyard fodder.

There is, however, a next level. And that level is especially important to people who find themselves in the convergence of this Venn diagram.

This is due to the fact that Brian aka PNWdiecastcustoms figured out a way to insert tiny bearings into the 3d printed resin wheels to make them roll smoooooth like butter.

Check out the video below, the wheel spins freely for literally 20 seconds.

(Sorry for the portrait mode video...)

Check out Brian's store, his wheels are awesome and the bearings can be added to tons of styles. The wheels on this Porsche 911 2.7RS are Techno Racing Yayoi wheels in 8mm. Oh, and he 3d printed the tires too, in flexible rubber!

That's nuts! I was working on my own bearing car but I abandoned it because my bearings were crap and I couldn't figure out how to securely mount a wheel without the use of a 3d printer.

Sweet! How are the wheels attached to the axles? I need to get back to finishing some of my customs projects
