Land of the Rising Sun-day, Tomica Time, is here again. Today we take a look at Tomica 78-4, the Toyota Corolla Levin. This casting entered the range in October 1983, remaining until October 1987, and is a model of a car with a real following:

Most of us know this car somewhat well, the AE86, a car that now has a cult following via Initial D and famous among manga/anime fans. The real world vehicle is a competent machine, and Tomica modeled it in especially good form, with accurate proportion, ample fine line casting detail, and realistic tampos. This model has the crisp glazing, springy suspension, and snappy door action we all admire in vintage Tomica. Scale is claimed to be 1:61, likely accurate, and close to the standard of small scale. From all angles, one can imagine this car with maybe some suspension mods zooming on a winding road with Mt. Fuji in the background:

Front and rear have ample detail, the rear wiper and defroster elements in the window being nice touches:

The base is metal, which adds heft and contains technical and identifying detail:

This model is lucky enough to live in its nice original box:

I'm quite happy to have this model in my collection, due to the following of the real world vehicle, this casting is sought after:
