[REVIEW] Tomica Suzuki Cervo

Land of the Rising Sun-day, Tomica Time, has returned. Today we take a look at Tomica 75-5, the Suzuki Cervo. This casting entered the range in May 1985, remaining in a relatively short run until June 1987, and is a vehicle that definitely fits this maker:

I haven't featured too many Kei cars in Tomica reviews, and this is a good place to start one. Tomica didn't add many such vehicles to the lineup - perhaps knowing they'd be alien to the important US market or wanting to focus on more prestigious larger caarrs, but there were some in the range over the years. This model contains ample fine line casting detail and accurate proportion, and contains the crisp glazing, springy suspension, and snappy door action we admire in vintage Tomica. Scale is claimed to be 1:52, likely accurate, a little larger than usual small scale, but this is a small real world car, so the model doesn't feel outsized, maybe just a little chunky due to its shape. From all angles, one can imagine this cheerful little ride parking in tight spot or zipping through dense urban traffic:

Doors open to reveal a detailed interior and accurate steering wheel:

Front and rear have ample detail, with the "CERVO" name on the chromed grille being a nice touch:

The base is plastic, a trend of the time, and contains identifying and technical detail:

This model is fortunate enough to live in its nice original box:

I'm pleased to have this model in my collection, it is a neat little car:

Wow! That is really close to the 1:1 in the photo. Is the black band around the midline part of the base, or just paint?

The black band is a tampo/paint.
