Land of the Rising Sun-day, Tomica Time, is here again. Today we take a look at Tomica 20-4, the Nissan Skyline 2000GT Turbo GT-E-S. This casting entered the range in July 1982, remaining until December 1986, and is a model that is a good representative of its time:

Tomica had an evolution in the 80s, and this model shows many parts of it. A sunroof, detailed interior, plastic base, chromed front piece, precise tampos - this is a model of its time. The vehicle itself, the R30 Skyline, seems somewhat forgotten now, but was an attractive vehicle, being a true hardtop, with clean angular lines. Some Skylines have nicknames, like Hakosuka or Kenmeri, I call this style the "80s Skyline". This model features the crisp glazing, snappy door action, and snappy door action we all enjoy in vintage Tomica. Scale is claimed to be 1:65, likely accurate, and almost exactly the standard of small scale. The tampos of this model are precise and clear, a Tomica trait. From all angles, one can imagine this sporty coupe zooming down an open highway:

Doors open to reveal a detailed interior and accurate steering wheel:

Front and rear have ample detail, with the aforementioned chromed front end being a period touch:

The base is plastic, a trend of the time, which allows for ample technical detail along with identifying data:

This model is fortunate to live in its original box:

I'm pleased to have this model in my collection, these aren't particularly rare, and I have this casting in a few colors - usually seen in silver, so I picked something different:
