Tomica Time, Land of the Rising Sun-day, has returned. Today we take a look at Tomica 18-3, the Mitsubishi Galant 2000GSR. This casting entered the range in November 1977, remaining until January 1980, and is a little diamond of a model:

This casting is a real gem and a prime example of later 70s era Tomica quality. Fine line casting detail is plentiful, proportion is excellent, and the badges cast-in behind the doors being a detail seldom seen on other makes. The kind of copper red paint has a luminous quality not completely captured on my phone camera - overall, this is a real looker. This version of the Galant was sold in the USDM as the captive import Plymouth Sapporo and Dodge Charger from 1978-83, and will probably be recognized by some. Scale is claimed to be 1:63, likely accurate, and almost exactly the standard of small scale. From all angles, one can imagine this attractive hardtop coupe motoring along out on the open road:

Doors open to reveal a detailed interior and accurate steering wheel:

Front and rear have ample detail, with the grille detail being a nice touch:

The base is metal, which adds heft and contains technical detail along with identifying data:

This model is lucky enough to live in its nice original box:

I'm very happy to have this model in my collection, this casting is somewhat scarce and not many are usually on the market. This was not my cheapest Tomica find, but I couldn't say no:
