[REVIEW] Tomica Honda Civic Country

Land of the Rising Sun-day, Tomica Time, is here again. Today we examine Tomica 34-3, the Honda Civic Country. This casting entered the range in February 1981, remaining until August 1984, and is a little charmer:

Tomica was really on its game during this era, and this model shows it - ample fine line casting detail, accurate proportions, and excellent tampos - in this case being the faux wood trim along the sides of this Civic wagon. The woody look is a fun part of this model, a trim variant never seen on USDM cars, kind of surprising as fake woodies were still a big thing then, but maybe not in Honda's somewhat sporty USDM image of the time. Scale is claimed to be 1:59, likely accurate, and close to the standard of small scale. From all angles, one can imagine this little hauler out for a shopping trip or ambling down a country road:

Doors open to reveal a detailed interior and accurate steering wheel:

Front and rear have plenty of detail, the chromed grille/front end era being a trend of the time:

The base is metal, which adds heft and contains ample identifying and technical detail:

This model is lucky enough to live in its original box:

I'm more than happy to have this model in my collection, it's just a neat little car:
