Moving Parts Restos-Tomica edition

Here are a couple of Tomicas that were recently finished. These were from VW John, so many thanks to him and his generosity.

This is how they arrived, a little playworn, but not in awful shape.

The Fairlady 240 ZG has separate clear pieces for the headlights, so had to carefully separate those from the body.

Tamiya fine gray primer.

Vallejo Orange Rust for the 240 ZG. I had to replace a bent axle on it, which was a little tricky, as Tomica axles are REALLY thin. I got lucky and had a straight pin in my tool kit that worked.

Tamiya Sky Blue for the X1/9. I knew a girl years ago who had one in this color.

I sanded the clear glass parts with 2K, 3K, and 5K sanding sticks, then dipped them in Pledge floor finish. Carefully glued the 240 ZG's headlights back in with PVA glue.

I wondered about these lines in the rear window of the 240 ZG, maybe defrosting? The casting detail is amazing, the script on the rear deck of both cars, the side badges & script on the 240 ZG are all there.

These are amazing models, and I thank VW John again for sending me them. Thanks for looking!

Excellent results! You are the first person, in a long time, that I've heard uses the floor finish method for rough window/glass parts. My brand is Future, but it's a good trick. The was a chrysler/plymouth/dodge dealer in my town when I was kid, they also sold Fiats. Every X1/9 on their lot was that bright green, blue looks so much better. Thanks for showing the results!
