Hot Sixty 4th: Reader, Reader Of This Blog…

WHO IS THE FAIREST OF THEM ALL?

Of course what I meant is which is the best looking of the two but it wouldn’t rhyme well.

On the left is the Toyota 4Runner by Hot Wheels under their Car Culture series and on the right is the Toyota 4Runner by GCD under no particular series.

At the front, the HW has painted  headlights while the GCD has lens headlights. Even the hood scope looks more realistic than the HW with the addition of the black paint on the front that gives the illusion of an opening on the hood. The wipers are also separate parts.

On the top the HW has only roof rails that is molded together with the body and applied with black paint. The GCD has separate roof rack.

At the rear the HW has painted taillights and slightly low resolution print lot the ‘4Runner’, logo and license plate. The GCD has lens taillights and higher resolution on the printed logo, the model name and license plate. The rear glass also shows the defroster grids although they may be slightly thicker. Notice that this bumper even has a black color on the top.

There is not much difference on the side but the GCD has a running board.

Kind of hard to see but the center cap of the wheel also has a TRD logo which I assume is based on an actual existing wheel.

On the chassis the HW has some minor detail with the no separate spare tire while the GCD has great detail with a separate spare, drive shaft, skid plate and the wheels do steer.

The GCD also comes with a Kayak but is loose on the rack.

Lastly let’s talk about the price. The HW is almost $7 in Walmart while the GCD is around $30 - $36. To me if you are the type of person who likes to display or hold their model and play with it then I would pick the HW as it does not have any delicate parts. If you only like to keep it in the package or to display then I would go with the GCD. So which would you choose?
