This FJ40 diecast is from Johnny Lightning with a pop culture theme based on the board game ‘Clue’.

For some reason TLV which creates high end diecast in true 1/64 had created a couple of different Land Cruiser models like the J60 but never made the FJ40 as I wanted to compare and find out how true the claim from other collectors that the FJ40 JL model is true 1/64.
So I decided to use the next best thing which is the Tomica premium which according to the box is a 1/60 scale and do a comparison test.

For the rear the JL is slightly higher.

The Tomica’s bumper is bigger which seems to give the illusion that it is a beer truck. On a side note I noticed the Tomica does not have wipers

Hard to tell but based on the bumper the Tomica looks larger.

The JL is almost identical if not slightly longer but the Tomica looks wider.

My conclusion is that it is hard to tell if the the Johnny Lightning model is true 1/64 but if you based it on the width it does seem smaller than 1/60. Also no matter how I look at both of them the one thing I could say is the JL model looks way better than the Tomica premium in terms of refinement and realism. What do you think?
