Hot Sixty 4th: A Look At the1985 Toyota Hilux 4x4

Writer: TJ MatchtheboxTJ Matchthebox

On my previous post I showed a set of 2 pickups from GCD. The first one I will show is the Toyota Hilux xtracab SR5. It also comes with a cleaning cloth with the brand name imprinted on it.

This 4th generation pickup truck was sold with the Hilux name in most markets, but in North America, the Hilux name was retired in 1976 in favor of Truck, Pickup Truck, or Compact Truck. A popular option package, the SR5 (Sport Runabout 5-Speed), was colloquially used as a model name for the truck

This redesigned 4th generation pickup truck was sold with the Hilux name in most markets, but in North America, the Hilux name was retired in 1976 in favor of Truck, Pickup Truck, or Compact Truck. The Toyota Pickup 4×4 launched in August 1983 (sold as model year 1984 in North America) introduced the Xtracab extended cab option, with six inches of space behind the seat for in-cab storage. The 4 door cab that is now more or less a standard feature is probably not an option at that time.

From my past GCD models that I’ve collected, I’ve only seen them come with brush guards, inserted lights and suspension just like a TLV but this specific model comes with opening hood with decent detail engine and opening tailgate as well.

Additionally the chassis has great detail with rubber spare, visible exhaust and the front wheels can be steered as well..

Would you believe it even have separate wiper parts rather than painted.

I like the look and detail of this truck and have no QC issue.
