Hot Sixty 4th: A Look At the classic Honda Civic SiR

Writer's picture: TJ MatchtheboxTJ Matchthebox

This nice shiny black beauty diecast was made by Tomytec under their TLVN. If it were made by Greenlight it would fall under their black bandit series.

This 4th generation Honda Civic SiR is a subcompact iconic sports car that has earned a loyal following over the years. The reason Honda came out with the SiR was simple – to produce a car that would appeal to driving enthusiasts without breaking the bank.

In fact the Civic SiR became a staple of Japanese pop culture – appearing in anime, manga, and even video game

According to Edmunds, the “Si” badge on a Honda Civic stands for “sport injection,” while the “R” indicates Type R performance upgrades. The SiR model Honda Civics were available in Asia and Europe but were never directly marketed in the United States.

This specific black color model was released by Tomytec only for the Hong Kong market and is only available in HK online stores or 3rd party sellers. I got this thru a HK seller in eBay and it does not disappoint. This true 1/64 comes with a nice black body, black rims, inserted lights, suspension, but no opening parts.
