Hello dear LaLDers! It is almost the end of the year again, so I will close the 2023 with three top 10 lists of my own. I want you to know: I handle these top 10 lists very loosely, so usually these lists contains more then 10 cars :D sorry about that, but I hope you won't mind.
This last list will contain (~)10 cars, which I want to add to my collection. It will be unordered, so I just throw more or less ten cars to this list as it comes to my mind, and we will see next year how many I managed to get!
Let's start the list:
#1: ATC Rolls-Royce Phantom I Jonckheere
Hope I don't need to explain. This car is surreal! Round, opening doors, otherwordly presence, seems like a car for a villain in the '40s. Even the modelcar looks like it weighs a ton!
#2: AutoART Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic
This car is an absolute saint grail for me! Opening parts, steerable front axle, mind blowing details. It costs a fortune, well, usually you can buy an actual car for it's price. But gosh, no concours collection is complete without a Type 57.
#3: Autocult Pegaso Z103 Berlinetta
I am obsessed with this brand, because it's design language is so unique it is a refreshing colourspot everywhere in the concrete grey present. Pegaso is a secret concours love of mine, the Z103 Berlinetta would be the perfect starter till I get to the Z102s, and to the ultimate Pegaso, the Cupula.
#4: Minichamps Hispano Suiza H6X Dubonnet
Another strange concept like thing from the late '30s, and another concours worthy brand: the Hispano-Suiza. This aerodynamic concept is a great looking example of the retro futuristic vibe, and it would be my first HS, so it could be a perfect starter.
#5: Spark TVR Griffith/Grantura
Another sweet spot of mine is the '60s, and I like a so often overlooked brand as the TVR. The early TVRs were so beautiful, small and vicious, and the Griffith is no different. This thing with a V8 was an absolute beast I think. Although my fatty body wouldn't fit into one, I would gladly try it out if there's ever a chance. Until then, I hope that I can at least put a miniature one in the vitrine.
#6: Neo Scale Iso Rivolta GT
We are still in the '60s, and boy oh boy, the Iso Rivolta GT is one of my favourite underdog italian GT ever existed. I mentioned it quite a lot in previous lists that I want to see it in 1/64, and since I modified my trajectory, I can be even more glad that in the 1/43 scene it is already existing. I just need to find one!
#7: Kyosho Ferrari F50
I managed to get some Kyosho Ferraris and so I think this brand would be the best fit for me to own an F50 too (though I won a minichamps F50 yesterday. What should I do?). Opening hood and trunk, heavy chassis and beautiful stance, that is what it's offer. I already have an F40, but the F50 is also a car which should be in every collection.
#8: IXO Pegaso Bacalao
In this place originally was the Revell Bugatti EB110 but I managed to get it yesterday, so I had to replace it with something. And then I found this, as a long avaiting member of my whislist: the mighty Pegas Bacalao racecar transporter. Look at this thing! It is like a blobfish! So amasingly ugly it is already gorgeous! Opening trunk and I'm already on the hype train! I love this art deco styling, there is some hints of aerodynamic conciderations... It reminds me of the GM Futurliner. Love it!
#9: Ferrari 250 GTO and/or 275 GTB by someone
No collection is full without a 250 GTO and a 275 GTB. There are a few good examples for 1/43 though. There are some Bang and Top Model but the quality is iffy. There is an Altaya version of the 275 GTB but the wheels are quite lame, and the overall details are a little bit odd. There is the KESS, Autoart, BBR, etc. version which are horribly expensive. Which will be the solution? I don't know, but I hope I find one next year!
#10: Minichamps Delahaye 135M
Mullin Museum, here I come! Another beauty from the '30s, and I am so much and deeply in love with these cars, it is already hard to explain. There is something sensual about these cars, vibing an era which we won't experience again. All the forms whisper nihilism and carelessness, the world could end tomorrow, so why not we put another curve on the door and dip it all into chrome and vivid colours? Cigar smoke, golden plates and double breasted suits. Dreams of an era which might never existed.
Hope you liked that list. What are your wishes for next year? Please let me know in the comments, and wish you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year fellas!
Thank you for reading! Cheers!
I got to see the Rounddoor Rolls at the Petersen a couple months ago. It was MASSIVE!
